Electric G-Wagen Concept of Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz, commonly referred to as Mercedes, is a German automotive brand headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. Mercedes-Benz produces luxury vehicles and commercial vehicles. They recently revealed an electric concept version of its boxy luxury off-roader, the G-Wagen, dotted with glowing accents and wearing some serious moon rover-style wheels.

This concept is named Concept EQG. This was first presented at the 2021 IAA Mobility show in Munich. However, Mercedes didn’t reveal much about this electric SUV. No estimations were given about the range, the battery size, or the power output of the electric motor. As Mercedes suggests, this vehicle will be all-wheel drive, though, and it will have low and high gear. Also, those wheels are 22 inches. Mercedes is rapidly adding new products to their EQ lineup.

This G-class off-road SUV is the latest member who will gain an electric EQ counterpart. This new EQG concept will retain the retains the G-class SUV’s traditional appearance with its boxy proportions and round headlights. As per the ideas of Mercedes, this concept is a near-production concept. They have further explained that the spare tire holder in the back can store a charging cable. The concept remains a body-on-frame SUV with an independent front suspension and a solid rear axle. An electric motor powers each wheel, providing a four-wheel drive. Currently, the top G-class is the AMG G63, which has a 577-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 under the hood. Mercedes-AMG says it will make high-performance versions of the EQ lineup, as seen by the AMG EQS, so expect to see an AMG EQG, too.
