Egyptian fencer Nada Hafez said she was “carrying a little Olympian” in Paris after revealing she was seven months pregnant while competing at the Olympic Games.
The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and officially marketed as Paris 2024, will occur in France from July 26 to August 11, 2024, with specific competitions beginning on July 24. The event has gained the attention of people worldwide.
Nada Hafez is an Egyptian sabre fencer who competed in the sabre at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Summer Olympics. In the women’s individual saber, she could win the opening match against USA player Elizabeth Tartakovsky. However, she lost in the round of 16 to Jeon Ha-Young of South Korea.
“What appears to you as two players on the podium, they were actually three!” Hafez has posted on social media. “It was me, my competitor, & my yet-to-come to our world, little baby!
“My baby & I had our fair share of challenges, be it both physical and emotional. The rollercoaster of pregnancy is tough on its own, but having to fight to keep the balance of life & sports was nothing short of strenuous, however worth it.
“I’m writing this post to say that pride fills my being for securing my place in the round of 16!”
Hafez, who was born in 1997, is 27 years old now. She was appearing at her third Olympic Games, and her final position of 16th was a marked improvement on her ranking of 29th in Tokyo and 36th in Rio.
