Mondo Duplantis Shatters Pole Vault World Record with a Stunning Leap

Mondo Duplantis is a Swedish-American pole vaulter. He is the current world outdoor and indoor record holder and a 2020 Olympic medalist. At 24, Duplantis is also the current European champion and the current Diamond League champion.

Up until Monday night, Duplantis had broken the world record eight times. One final jump would determine whether Duplantis could lower the obstacle between man and flight by one additional centimeter.

Duplantis’s two attempts to surpass his world record failed. Prior to his third, he discussed a critical change with his father and coach, Greg. He dashed across the runway, shot into the night, and entered Olympic history as one of the greatest athletes ever.

Pole-vaulting phenom Duplantis, who competed for his mother’s home in Sweden and was born in Louisiana, enrolled at LSU and cleared 6.25 meters (20 feet 6 inches) on his final try.

The lights inside the Stade de France stadium flickered. The best audience formed a crazy wall of sound he had ever seen outside of Tiger Stadium. After running off the mat to the stadium’s corner, he gave his brothers a high five and embraced his girlfriend.

The Paris Olympics 2024 has gained attention worldwide. China is still at the top of the table, followed by America and France in second and third place.
