Google released a Wear OS app for YouTube Music which is fascinating and a piece of really good news for the people who were looking forward to a way to play their music off Google’s streaming service after the company shut down Google Play Music on Wear OS in August 2020. But there are some limitations to this new app.
The biggest limitation is that this new app only works on one of Samsung’s two new watches powered by Wear OS 3. This was declared by Google when this news about the new app was revealed. If you want to try the new app right now, you won’t be able to unless you have a Galaxy Watch 4 or a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. If you have one of these cool gadgets, YouTube Music Wear OS will let YouTube Premium subscribers download to their watch, which means that you can listen to tunes with just a watch and a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
You don’t need an internet connection to do this. 9to5Google, the official breaking news service of Google states that there is no way to stream music from the app — it appears that you can only download music right now. The most annoying part is that you are allowed to download songs while the watch is on a charger only and this was also reported by the 9to5Google breaking news service. However, even with these limitations, it is really good to hear that a YouTube Music Wear OS app is available for the users to enjoy music. Google hasn’t shared any information regarding the dates that this app is available on other devices.
